64-year-old Antonina Nikulina wrote that trillions of rubles were “used as fuel [for the military operations] instead of treating children, building houses and roads.” The Department for Countering Extremism’s employee noticed her comments in the Karelfornia Community and drew up a protocol on her discrediting the army. The police drew up two more protocols under this article within two months.

The court fined Nikulina 50 thousand rubles (Article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). The pensioner has a dependent elder sister with a disability. Residents of Karelia raised money to pay the fines in half a day.

In November, Russians collected 30 thousand rubles in half a day to pay a fine of a Karelian musician who held a patriotic rally with an anti-war poster. And in October, they helped the Evening Vedomosti’s editor-in-chief, who was fined 100 thousand rubles under the article about discrediting the military.
