According to politician Marina Litvinovich, the home of Aleksei Moskalyov and his daughter Masha in Efremov was searched on March 1. The law enforcers allegedly seized all the money. On the same day, Alexei Moskalyov, a single father, was detained on his way to work and taken to a detention center. According to human rights activists, Masha was taken to a shelter. It is unknown where exactly she is being held. The local rehabilitation center for children in Efremov doesn’t comment on whether the girl is in their custody.

In April 2022, Masha Moskalyova, a sixth-grader from Efremov, made a drawing of Russian and Ukrainian flags and the slogan "No to War" at her art class. The teacher Nina Vorobieva complained to the principal Larissa Trofimova, who called the police and child welfare services. The girl was taken out of class and interrogated. Law enforcers found comments in support of Ukraine and caricatures of Vladimir Putin on Alexei Moskalyov’s page in Odnoklassniki and VKontakte. He was charged with discrediting the army and fined 32 thousand rubles ($425).

A week before New Year, the Moskalyovs’ home was searched. Investigators opened a criminal case against the father for repeatedly discrediting the army. During the interrogation, according to Moskalyov, he was tortured to the anthem of Russia. Masha was taken to an orphanage. After that, the family left for another city. However, on March 1, law enforcers found them.
