The activist Evgeny Molotov, accused of financing the activities of an extremist organization, will remain in jail until March 22. He is detained for donating 1000 RUB to Alexey Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK)*, an organization to which he contributed for three years.

According to another Vologda activist, Evgeny Domozhirov, Evgeny Molotov had been residing in Kazakhstan until recently. He returned to Russia two months ago to care for his father, who is battling stage four cancer.

Additionally, Evgeny Molotov financially supports his three daughters. His wife is lacking a source of income, and Molotov's bank accounts are likely to be blocked due to the ongoing criminal case against him. Given these circumstances, Evgeny Domozhirov called on Russians to support the detained activist's family with donations.

Evgeny Molotov has been actively engaged in civic work in Vologda since 2011. He ran as a candidate for the City Council in 2014 and worked as a lawyer for the anti-corruption movement 'Vmeste'В ('Together').

In June 2023, Alexey Navalny’s International Anti-Corruption Foundation was designated as an 'undesirable organization.' Collaborating with such entities may result in a fine of 500,000 RUB or a prison term of up to 4 years. Those accused of financing the activities of an 'undesirable organization' face a punishment of up to 5 years in prison.
